Biblical Marriages
Gritty and Gutsy Communication
Message Notes
- “Marriage is one of the most humbling, sanctifying journeys you will ever be a part of. It forces us to wrestle with our selfishness and pride. But it also gives us a platform to display love and commitment.” Francis Chan
- We all fall into one of four categories as it pertains to marriage…
- We are married to our spouse.
- We are single and married to God.
- We are married to our spouse and married to God.
- We are single and God has yet to find us, and we have yet to find Him, but He wants to be married to us!
- John 10:10: Satan views your entire life as up for grabs and this includes all relationships but especially your marriage.
- Satan attacked the two people that God brought together as a partnership and team right away.
- What happened in the garden was not a failure of female submission or male leadership.
- Adam and Eve grew lax in communicating with each other.
- Adam and Eve stopped being accountable to each other.
- Adam and Eve ceased to be intimate and vulnerable with each other.
- Adam and Eve let their oneness go.
- What about you and me?
- Practice oneness daily even when you are uncomfortable with it and think you suck at it.
- Practice intimacy and vulnerability daily even when you are uncomfortable with it and think you suck at it.
- Practice listening daily even when you are uncomfortable with it and think you suck at it.
- Practice staring daily at God even when you are uncomfortable with it and think you suck at it.
- “If we don’t stare at God, we’ll spend our time staring at lesser things. Namely, ourselves.” Francis Chan
